Fashion Museum – Family activities

Holiday activities are offered at school holiday times throughout the year. No booking necessary, free activity once on site. Children must be accompanied at all times. 

 

Draw and paint it

Tuesday 29 July, 10.30am – 12.30pm and 1.30pm – 3.30pm

Explore the designs and motifs in our GEORGIANS exhibition and use watercolours to design an outfit.

Booked craft session for 11 to 16 year olds – bookings in advance at the Fashion Museum reception £5.00 per child.

 

Colour it

Tuesday 5 August: 10.30am – 12.30pm & 1.30 pm – 3.30 pm

Investigate the jewel colours in our Georgians exhibition and use them in a design of your own. Family drop-in.

 

Weave it

Tuesday 12 August: 10.30am - 12.30pm & 1.30pm - 3.30pm

Explore some techniques from our displays and find out about weaving. Have a go with our simple weaving activity using plastic bags.

 

Make it

Tuesday 19 August: 10.30am - 12.30pm & 1.30pm - 3.30pm

Explore decorative techniques including knotting, braiding, ruching and bows.

 

Get started with crazy wool

Wednesday 30 July, 10.00am – 12 noon

Try this special technique to make an individual brooch. For 11 to 16 year olds. £5 each.

 

Get started with rag rugs

Wednesday 6 August: 10.00am – 12 noon

Try this technique and make a rag rug. Craft session for 11 to 16 year olds. £5 each.

 

Get started with decorating bags

Wednesday 13 August: 10am - 12 noon

Use simple hand sewing techniques to decorate a bag.

 

Get started with fashion recycling

Wednesday 20 August: 10am - 12 noon

Explore some simple techniques to reuse old t-shirts. Bring one along to find out more.

 

A flare for fashion

Tuesday 28, Wednesday 29, Thursday 30 October: 2pm - 4pm

Use a variety of simple shapes to create amazing outfits.
