Diana Teas

Diana Teas in November

Bath & North East Somerset Council’s Fashion Museum is hosting two events to co-incide with The Diana Dresses exhibition.

On 2 and 16 November at 3pm, Fashion Museum manager Rosemary Harden will give a special illustrated presentation about the exhibition in the Tea Room at the historic Assembly Rooms. Tickets to the talk include afternoon tea and cakes during the talk and entry to the museum and Diana’s Dresses exhibition

Manager of the Council run Fashion Museum, Rosemary Harden said:

"The Diana Dresses exhibition at Bath & North East Somerset Council’s Fashion Museum has proved popular across the summer months, and we are arranging the Diana Teas illustrated talks as a winter event for visitors to hear a little more about the exhibition and the Diana dresses. It's the first time we've done anything like this at the Fashion Museum, and we hope that visitors will enjoy the combination of afternoon tea and cakes and hearing a little more about Diana as a fashion icon."

The dresses in the exhibition, generously lent to the Fashion Museum by private collectors, span the brief 16 years that Diana was in the spotlight. They include dresses worn during the Royal tours of Canada and New Zealand in the early 1980s, evening dresses by Diana's special couturier, the late Catherine Walker, from almost ten years later around 1990, and little black cocktail dresses by designers such as Versace from the mid 1990s. The exhibition also includes a memory wall where visitors can share their memories about Diana’s Dresses.

Tickets for the Diana Teas are £12.00/£10.00 Discovery Card holders from Bath Festivals Box Office Tel: 01225 463362, Email: boxoffice@bathfestivals.org.uk

The exhibition continues until 9 January 2011. The Museum is free to local residents with a Discovery Card and is open daily 10.30-5pm, exit 6pm. For more information about the exhibition, please visit the website http://www.fashionmuseum.co.uk/
