Important loans by the Fashion Museum 2013:
- Holburne Museum / Painted Pomp -
loan of an embroidered waistcoat, gloves, and shirt plus advisory
work. A fantastic opportunity for the Fashion Museum to
interpret key historical pieces in the museum collection with the
most wonderful set of early 17th century portraits.
- Yale Center for British
Art, New Haven Connecticut / Edwardian Opulence - loan of
a magnificent Court dress designed by Worth and worn by Lady Mary
Curzon, Vice-reine of India, the centre pieces of Yale's
exhibition.
- The Queens Gallery, Buckingham
Palace / In Fine Style - loan of the same embroidered
bodice, and some gloves in a landmark exhibition at this gallery.
This is the first time that the Royal Collections Trust have ever
borrowed pieces from other organisations.
