Big hair, frills and feathers – plenty of inspiration for the
family this summer in Bath

Bath & North East Somerset Council’s museums have plenty of
creative and educational activities on offer to keep the children
busy this summer.
If you haven’t visited The Story of The Supremes From the Mary
Wilson Collection yet, there are a host of family activities at the
exhibition at the Council-run Assembly Rooms. Children are invited
to dress up as a Mini-Supreme in the children’s corner, and there
is a chance to win a year’s free entry to the Roman Baths and
Fashion Museum in a drawing competition. On Tuesdays 11, 18 and 25
August, special creative workshops are being held between
10.30am-12.00pm and 1.30-3.00pm, inspired by The Supremes colourful
dresses and album covers. Entry is free to Fashion Museum ticket
holders and local residents with a Discovery Card, and no booking
is necessary.
Sunday 23 August is Big Hair Day at the Supremes exhibition at
the Assembly Rooms, with free hair and make-up sessions by top
local salon, Artizan. 2 for 1 entry for visitors wearing 60s and
70s outfits, opening hours 10.30am – 5pm, exit 6pm. Visit www.fashionmuseum.co.uk for

At the Roman Baths in Abbey Church Yard, family activities take
place every Monday during August, between 10.00am-1.00pm and 2.00pm
and 4.00pm. On Monday 10th you can find out about Roman gemstones
and design some jewellery, on the 17th investigate the gods and
goddesses of the Roman Empire and on 24th August find out more
about the Roman army. Entry is free to Roman Baths ticket holders
and local residents with a Discovery Card, and no booking is

The Council-run Victoria Art Gallery in Bridge Street is holding
children’s art workshops inspired by the Kurt Jackson: River Avon
Part 2 exhibition every Friday during the summer holidays between
10.30am -12.00pm and 1.30pm-3.00pm. On Friday 7 August in Watery
Art children can use special watercolour pencils to create a
wonderful watery picture, on 14 August create a River in a Box, on
21 August create a sizzling seaside scene in Seaside Summer, and on
28 August explore watery colours in River Reflections.
